How to record a video message (no app required)

Updated October 8, 2026

In short

Open the link, allow camera and microphone access, hit record, and tap Looks Good when you’re happy with your take. Everything happens in the browser — nothing to install, nothing to configure first.

  1. 1

Open the campaign link you were sent — on a phone, tablet, or computer, in any modern browser.

  2. 2

Read the prompt at the top of the page so you know what you’re being asked to record.

  3. 3

Tap Allow when your browser asks for camera and microphone permission. Without this, recording can’t start.

  4. 4

Tap the record button, say your piece, then tap Stop.

  5. 5

Watch the preview. Happy with it? Tap Looks Good. Not quite right? Tap Re-record and try again — you can redo it as many times as you like. If the campaign asks you to accept its terms, tick the box first, and if it asks for a name, email or rating, fill that in and tap Continue. Your video then uploads.

What happens after you submit

Your clip goes straight to whoever created the campaign. They choose which clips go into a reel, so whether yours appears in one is up to them. Some campaign owners also hold clips that an automated content check flags until they approve them. Either way, your part is done. You can close the tab once you see the thank-you screen; there’s nothing left to do on your end.

Browser and device support

Whoosh works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on both desktop and mobile. There’s no separate "mobile app" and "desktop app" to keep in sync — it’s the same page, the same recorder, and the same quality regardless of what device someone opens the link on. If recording doesn’t start, see Fixing camera or microphone permission issues.

Why there’s no separate upload step

Some tools split recording and uploading into two steps: record to your camera roll, then find the file and attach it somewhere. Whoosh skips that entirely — the clip you record is uploaded as soon as you confirm it, so there’s no file to find and attach, and no "which version did I upload" question.
