Reel quality, resolution, and file format

Updated October 8, 2026

Output quality

Reels render at 720p, or at 1080p when your source clips are sharper than 720p. A Vertical campaign produces a 9:16 reel and a Horizontal one a 16:9 reel. Whoosh can’t add detail to a blurry recording, so a clip recorded in good light on a reasonably recent device will look that way in the final reel too.

Mixed orientations and resolutions, handled automatically

A campaign set to Either naturally collects a mix of vertical phone clips and horizontal laptop-webcam clips. The reel uses one frame, taken from the campaign’s orientation or from the majority of the clips, and fits each clip inside it with black bars where the shapes differ. Nobody’s face gets cut off or stretched out of shape.

File format

Reels download as standard MP4 — the most widely supported video format there is, playable on every phone, laptop, smart TV, and presentation tool without needing a codec pack or conversion step.
